As some of you know there was a miss-communication at the hotel on what dates and how much space we need for our June event. The hotel has a Jr. ballroom towards the front entry but before confirming I want to go over there and check out the lighting.
Sorry for the delay but I would rather be sure than have us in a dark room. The room is available June 17-19, 2011 so that is the date I am looking at confirming.

You will be making a variety of 8 cards from the Echo Park, "a Walk in the Park" Collection Kit. These cards are fabulous with lots of embellishments and detail. They look like they took you forever to make but with most pieces already cut for you, they will be a breeze for you to put together.

With the price of the class you will receive the entire collection kit which includes 1 sheet each of 12 papers, 1 alpha & borders 12"X12" stickers and 1 elements 12"X12" stickers, which leaves you lots of goodies left over for more projects to do at your leisure.

Desert Scrappers Weekend Retreats

We are about 1 month from the September Retreat. Amazing! At this time I am finalizing room listings (roommates) and payment options. I will be giving the final room listing and count to the hotel this week. Yikes! So this is what I need (if I don't already have it): Room occupancy number, and names of roommates. If you are a consultant or work for a scrapbooking related company I would love to know at this time too. Also the city you live in is very helpful for distance traveled prizes, etc

Our new venue has lots more room so we are still taking reservations but for full payment only!

I’ve already added the [Desert Scrappers Weekend Retreat] dates to my website and I’ll have the samples done in a couple days (I have to finish up a few other projects that are on a tight deadline). I am going to try to get to the hotel early on Friday to get everything set up and settled in. OUR NEW VENUE is the RENAISSANCE hotel in PALM SPRINGS!!

I am going to post mostly pictures since I think they speak for themselves... most information to come when I am not too tired from signing contracts, lol.

How the two queen bed rooms look... I am so excited TWO QUEEN bed not 2 doubles.

On the right.. Leia stands in the almost 6300 sq ft scrap room. No hot spot!!

One of the $4 appetizers served from 5- 7pm each night during happy hour. Any draft beer is only $3 at this time too.

Left: the floor of the hotel lobby changes colors 3 times a day and there is free WiFi in the common areas. Lots of private seating areas in the lobby,

retreat sept09Well Ladies, we survived a 4.9 Earthquake, bumps, scrapes and new hotel management!
Sadly, after meeting with the Embassy Suites we will no longer be using that venue for our Retreats. But I am excited to say that I have now looked at dozens and I do mean dozens of desert properties and have narrowed it down to 2 fabulous places in the Palm Springs area. I am currently, waiting to get a final table count so we will NEVER have table issues again.
I am a big fan of resolving problems while moving forward and showing the solutions in place. That being said I want to offer everyone who attended the June Retreat a discount on September's Retreat: if you were part of a group, you may still get the same group rate in September even if the group organizer doesn't attend. All other attendees will automatically get the early bird rate as long as they book 30 days in advance. **For those who did not attend in June hurry up and register! I haven't had a chance to up-date the prices from early bird rates. Remember $50 deposit per person locks in your rate.

This past weekend I went to Desert Scrappers Retreats and took my family along. Most times I do take my family with me. In this class you will learn how to create a Disney garland. However, I must warn you... garlands are extremely addicting! Garlands are a fun, creative way to display photos or create a theme. They are a nice way to add a little decoration to any mantle, counter, desk, etc. Know someone that is a Disney fan? This garland would make a great gift!

The kit has everything you need to create this project. The finished project measures 5" high, 40" wide. When folded up, the garland measures 5" x 5". · Personal Development / Training: Must be willing to commit to an initial training (specific date still TBD) as well as ongoing monthly product training, team meetings, client trainings, etc… (paid) as required

· Administration/Reporting: Must complete accurate and timely HR paperwork and reports online; call reports, expense reports (if applicable), training certification quizzes, etc... Participate in mandatory conference calls (paid).

Candidates must possess the following:

I did go to the OC Scrap Expo this past weekend and I can say is... did I not get the memo, Keep things for 2 years and sell for a discount. I missed last year because of being so sick with baby Levi but I swear everything there was from years past. I really want to see what will be released at CHA next week. Family Update

I am trying to get better at updating my blog but life keep getting in the way. LOL.

I just had emergency oral surgery on Wednesday. Having baby Levi caused one of my wisdom teeth to move. That move was right into some other teeth. I now am slightly less wise.. Of course the day I had my surgery Leia came down with a fever and has been battling it for a few days now. Good News, I think she has won. Bad News, she shared with her brother. So the last two nights have been sleepless. Levi seems to have gotten the runny nose part the worst but that makes for a challenge when nursing. My recovery has taken a backseat but isn't that motherhood at it's best.

I promise to check in again soon... and there will be rewards for my followers.

How do I get to the Retreat?

Please feel free to use the mapped directions on the Desert Scrappers website or your own choice.
Laura's simplified directions: I-10 East, exit Cook st. Follow Cook st for approx. 3-5 miles. Turn right onto HYW 111. The second light is Hospitality Row and there is the Embassy Suites. Pull to the left hand side for easier check-in.

How Do I Check-In
The doors will open at Noon and it will be first come first serve for seating arrangements. We will need EVERY MINUTE to set up for you. So please do not enter Salon 3 or 4 banquet rooms until the doors are open. Please don't sit where goodies bags or scrapbook supplies are. We ask that everyone try to be respectful of others around you. We want this retreat to be GREAT for everyone!
Hotel room check-in is through the front desk in the lobby. Just let them know you are with Desert Scrappers. You may check into your hotel room at anytime, the hotel does its best to make sure rooms are ready before the usual check-in time but please be aware there may be a time that you have to wait for your room to be completely made up and ready for check-in.
** Doors open at 9am for those who have booked the Thursday add-on package.

Scrapping Times:
You may set up on Friday at Noon (or 9am if you have paid for the add-on Thursday package) and scrap all day and all night until 6pm on Sunday. You may leave your supplies up all weekend. Leaving your belongings out will be at your discretion. I have never had a problem in the past but, Desert Scrappers is not responsible for lost or stolen items. I do shut the doors each evening so no one may look into the area. The hotel has offer to allow the last person each night to lock up and the first person each morning to open the room since there will be no additional security. This is still on the honor system and no ID's will be checked

Swap Box:
We will have a box available to you to drop off things you no longer want and take items that someone else no longer wants that looks like treasure to you! This program works on the honor system. All items left at the end of the weekend will be donated to The Miriam House a local center for underprivileged pregnant women. They will use the items to make albums for their new arrivals. Any items that the Miriam House may not be able to use will be donated to local schools. As always we love additional donations especially for this and other worthy causes. Just please mark your item so they go to the correct charity group. Thank you!

We will have an opportunity to see all the latest and greatest products and shop all weekend long!

I am still alive, kind of... being a mommy of 2 is keeping me busy. Leia just celebrated her 5th birthday & we went all out including Disneyland for 3 days, Ariel's Grotto for the princesses dinner plus we swung by Long Beach so I could attend the CTMH leadership event. As usual the event was great. And now all my new products have arrived including the new Idea Book that goes live Sept. 1. Some new changes are in store too for early next year so stay tuned.. I will be have lots of updates for you. But until then; it's time for me to start sending out New Idea Books. I am doing it a little different this time so please help me out. Levi & Leia getting ready to start the long birthday celebrations.

I know I have been a bad blogger. I blame my broken computer, lol. Good thing hubby is an IT man cause it needed and still needs lots of love with repairs. We are just so busy around here. We have been celebrating Leia's 5th birthday for almost 3 weeks now. First we did Disneyland and dinner with the Princesses, then we dyed her hair with pink of course. Plus we had a small family day to celebrate. It is finally coming to a close just in time to get ready for Kindergarten. I can not believe it! Lots going on on the Levi front too: Doctor said his Congenital Muscular Torticollis is now healed. YEAH! I can tell how much rounder his head is compared to birth. Plus an official Levi weigh-in on August 13th: 16 lbs, 25.5 inches and 3.5 months old. He takes after Daddy that's for sure, where does the time go? More pictures to come soon.

Laura R Miller recovered from the flu only to run out of town for Leia's b-day celebration in Disneyland. Final on the internet again but only for a moment since I am at CTMH Leadership in Long Beach. I will have lots to share when I return

Recovering

Thanks to Nancy K, one of my CTMH sister I know Nana is well and starting to recover. I can not say as much for myself though. Retreats always wipe me out but everything with Nana has been especially hard. Then of course I was going to play catch-up and Leia came home yesterday sick. Starting around 6pm she threw-up regularly until the wee hours of the morning. Now almost 24 hours later she is finally not throwing up and I got some Tylenol in her so her fever broke, YEAH!! Sadly, she still hasn't wanted to eat but luckily the leftover Ginger Ale from my pregnancy has helped her keep hydrated.
I little update on what has/hasn't been done:
- all CTMH orders have been placed
- no checks or payments have been processed/ deposits
- September's Retreat will be addresses 30 days out

Sorry I have been MIA. Here is my update why:

First I was hoping to recover from the wonderful DS Scrappy Weekend in which I got some scrapping done since Shelia G. took care of most of the on site hosting. Thank You Shelia! But then I got a frantic call from my mom, Sunday night. My 91 year old Nana passed out for some unknown reason. My mother performed CPR and someone called 911. Nana was rushed to UCLA Medical Center. All I knew by the early hours of Monday was that Nana was in lots of pain and nothing not even the max dose of Morphine could help.
We don't know much more on why she passed out it could have been related to her dementia. Good News is she is making a fast recovery even though she still has a lot of pain. And for some reason can not feed herself (maybe related to the pain?) We still don't know when she will be released.

Hopefully after all this craziness I can start on my recovery from the retreat and lack of sleep, if that is possible with a 2 month old. Soon our regular updates and information about September's Retreat will start.

This is good for the July 10-12 Palm Desert Retreat only. It works very similar to Priceline.com or PriceBreakers. From June 12-16, I will be accepting bids for the July Retreat*. These bids must include if you would like a day rate or an entire weekend and any other retreat details. Also please include if you have preferred roommates or are open to being assigned a roommate or two. You must include the method of payment you plan to use too. I will then notify everyone if their bid has been accepted or not by 6pm Wednesday, June 17. Please do not bid unless you will be able to attend the July 10-12 Retreat in Palm Desert, CA. It's June already! Time for the kids to be done with school. Plus lots of Dads and Grads day activities. This always means lots of card making for me. Good thing Close To My Heart has some great new card kits, these cards look like they were made from scratch but in a fraction of the time. This is much needed with a new baby at home.

I am still in the land of the living, barely. Thank you everyone for being so understanding about have our guest, Little Levi at the retreat all weekend. I am glad to report that our visit to Children's Hospital went well and we have a diagnosis; Congenital Muscular Torticollis. Good thing a get to write that and not say it.

Hello Ladies~
I have already checked into my room, seen the wonderful Michele Snead from the North County Croppin' Cuties and Candy Apple Inn plus the sneaked a peak to make sure room set-up was going smoothly. All looks great!

Sadly, Stephanie Ackerman is ill and will not be making it to teacher he class. BooHoo!

Hope you're having a great Memorial Day! It's Jennifer Priest here to remind you about a little food drive we're doing at the retreat this weekend. All the info is below...

Scrapbook Royalty is collecting canned food at Desert Scrappers Retreats!!!

Jennifer Priest will be at Desert Scrappers Retreats selling tote hooks and aprons, teaching classes and make n takes, selling raffle tickets and collecting food for charity.

Right now Scrapbook Royalty has partnered with Fiskateers to collect canned food for the homeless and those in need. We always do a raffle to benefit charity at Laura's retreats (thanks Laura!) so this time I am offering one raffle ticket for every 3 cans or boxes of nonperishable food you bring to me at the retreat to donate. If you bring 10 cans, you'll receive a goodie bag! For example, bring 20 cans of food and get 6 raffle tickets and two goodie bags.

We'll also be selling raffle tickets in the traditional sense: $2 per ticket or 20 tickets for $20. The proceeds from the two raffles I am doing will be split equally between Scrapbook Royalty and the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes is a disease that has affected nearly every member of my family. Scrapbook Royalty has yet to help a charity regarding this disease so this is our opportunity to make a difference for yet another worthy cause.

Here's a checklist for the retreat:

Bring Canned Food. Get a raffle ticket for every 3 cans, goodie bag for every 10 cans.
Bring $ for Raffle Tickets. $2 per ticket or 20 tickets for $20.
Shop for Scrapbook Royalty loot: and help support our charity. I'll have tote hooks and aprons at the Hydrangea Hippo booth.
Shop at Hydrangea Hippo. Kits are Buy Two Get One free, lots of ribbon, stick pins, banner kits, grab bags, and more.

It's Jennifer Priest here and I cannot wait for next weekend! The retreat is only a week away and I am excited about all the fun we will have. I will be there selling scrappy goodies and kits at my booth as well as teaching two classes plus a late night make n take:

Join Jennifer Priest of the Bind-It-All Design Team to explore tricks, tips, and techniques using the Bind It All. In the class you'll create your very own "Play Book" (not pictured) with directions for everything you'll ever want to do with the Bind-It-All.

About The $10 Bonus Class:
It's been said that the best way to learn something is to actually "do" it. After the "Basics" class, create a mini book using the skills you just learned. Not only will you have the instructor there to help you, you'll also have a chance to play with Zutter's newest creation, Cover-Alls! Mix various media for your pages - envelopes, acetate, chipboard, and more! We'll have an embellishment, border punch, stamp, and paper bar featuring My Mind's Eye products set up so you can create your own custom design during the class.

Also, I will be there representing Scrapbook Royalty, a 501c3 nonprofit charity that supports other charities through scrapbooking and other fundraising events. We will have two raffles during the event for some wonderful, goodie filled baskets. The raffles will benefit the American Diabetes Association. Diabetes is a disease that has touched my family and many families across the United States so the fight against Diabetes is definitely a worthy cause to support. I will be selling raffle tickets at the event and the baskets will be on display then as well.

Scrapbook Royalty has operating costs, such as the maintenance of our website, accounting fees, storage fees, and so on. To help pay for these items we fundraise a little for ourselves (because we can't help others if we don't have a phone! LOL)

May's Retreat is only 8 days away but for those of you who did the add-on Thursday package I am proud to announce you may set-up even earlier than first expected. YEAH!!!
That is right your add-on package allows your Retreat to start in only 7 days. I do not have an exact time as of now but I am going to say you can set-up right after the Manager's Reception that ends at 7:30pm. I will know a more exact time on Thursday after 5pm so please feel free to call my cell, 760-791-6304 for all the final details. Smile My Peeps!

That is actually the title of TWO DIFFERENT classes I am teaching on May 30 at Desert Scrappers, but you can take BOTH!

Smile 6X6 Mini Album - Prima Endorsed Class $20 - 2pm
This is a chipboard album using Prima's "Makes Me Happy" line of paper, chipboard letters, flowers and brads. We will be using acrylic paint to add color to the pages, as well as 3X4 acrylic tabbed pages to add interest and a bit of interactivity to the album! We will sprinkle some "happy" quotes throughout the book to remind you all to SMILE - be happy :)

My Peeps 6X6 Mini Album - Glitz Designs $20 - 7:30pm This cute, pink album says "My Peeps" on it, but you can title it anything want with the full package of Glitz Designs cardstock alpha stickers! You also get these cute bird rub-ons, glitter ribbon, white Prima flowers and the appropriate bling! We will using some paper folding techniques to create unique pages and hidden photo/journaling spots. Check out the edgy pink paper we will be using from the Audrey collection from Glitz Designs. We are going to play with some of their rub-on rollers too :)
