September 11-13 Desert Scrappers Weekend Retreat update & info

Please note make 'n' takes for Friday night are open to all, even if you are not attending the Retreat. Also vendors welcome outside shoppers and offer GREAT deals.

How do I get to the Retreat?

Please feel free to use the mapped directions on the Desert Scrappers website or your own choice.
Laura's simplified directions: I-10 East, exit Cook st. Follow Cook st for approx. 3-5 miles. Turn right onto HYW 111. The second light is Hospitality Row and there is the Embassy Suites. Pull to the left hand side for easier check-in.

How Do I Check-In
The doors will open at Noon and it will be first come first serve for seating arrangements. We will need EVERY MINUTE to set up for you. So please do not enter Salon 3 or 4 banquet rooms until the doors are open. Please don't sit where goodies bags or scrapbook supplies are. We ask that everyone try to be respectful of others around you. We want this retreat to be GREAT for everyone!
Hotel room check-in is through the front desk in the lobby. Just let them know you are with Desert Scrappers. You may check into your hotel room at anytime, the hotel does its best to make sure rooms are ready before the usual check-in time but please be aware there may be a time that you have to wait for your room to be completely made up and ready for check-in.
** Doors open at 9am for those who have booked the Thursday add-on package.

Scrapping Times:
You may set up on Friday at Noon (or 9am if you have paid for the add-on Thursday package) and scrap all day and all night until 6pm on Sunday. You may leave your supplies up all weekend. Leaving your belongings out will be at your discretion. I have never had a problem in the past but, Desert Scrappers is not responsible for lost or stolen items. I do shut the doors each evening so no one may look into the area. The hotel has offer to allow the last person each night to lock up and the first person each morning to open the room since there will be no additional security. This is still on the honor system and no ID's will be checked

Swap Box:
We will have a box available to you to drop off things you no longer want and take items that someone else no longer wants that looks like treasure to you! This program works on the honor system. All items left at the end of the weekend will be donated to The Miriam House a local center for underprivileged pregnant women. They will use the items to make albums for their new arrivals. Any items that the Miriam House may not be able to use will be donated to local schools. As always we love additional donations especially for this and other worthy causes. Just please mark your item so they go to the correct charity group. Thank you!

We will have an opportunity to see all the latest and greatest products and shop all weekend long!

Jennifer Priest will be offering two special make 'n' takes on Friday night. Please join us for these great projects since no classes will be offered on Saturday.

Clothes:
Pack comfy clothes and layers to wear due to the banquet room temperature variations. Evenings seem to be cool in the scrapbook room so you might want to bring a sweater or jacket.

FYI-
September's Retreat is only a few days away but for those of you who did the add-on Thursday package I am proud to announce you may set-up even earlier than first expected. YEAH!!! Add-on packages still available.
That is right your add-on package allows your Retreat to start in less than 72 hours. I do not have an exact time as of now but I am going to say you can set-up right after the Manager's Reception that ends at 7:30pm. I will know a more exact time on Thursday after 5pm so please feel free to call my cell, 760-791-6304 for all the final details. Please do remember that this is a special treat and vendors will be working hard to set-up until noon on Friday.
