September 11-13 Desert Scrappers Weekend Retreat update & info

Please note make 'n' takes for Friday night are open to all, even if you are not attending the Retreat. Also vendors welcome outside shoppers and offer GREAT deals.

How do I get to the Retreat?
Directions & Hotel Website
Please feel free to use the mapped directions on the Desert Scrappers website or your own choice.
Laura's simplified directions: I-10 East, exit Cook st. Follow Cook st for approx. 3-5 miles. Turn right onto HYW 111. The second light is Hospitality Row and there is the Embassy Suites. Pull to the left hand side for easier check-in.

How Do I Check-In
The doors will open at Noon and it will be first come first serve for seating arrangements. We will need EVERY MINUTE to set up for you. So please do not enter Salon 3 or 4 banquet rooms until the doors are open. Please don't sit where goodies bags or scrapbook supplies are. We ask that everyone try to be respectful of others around you. We want this retreat to be GREAT for everyone!
Hotel room check-in is through the front desk in the lobby. Just let them know you are with Desert Scrappers. You may check into your hotel room at anytime, the hotel does its best to make sure rooms are ready before the usual check-in time but please be aware there may be a time that you have to wait for your room to be completely made up and ready for check-in.
** Doors open at 9am for those who have booked the Thursday add-on package.

Scrapping Times:
You may set up on Friday at Noon (or 9am if you have paid for the add-on Thursday package) and scrap all day and all night until 6pm on Sunday. You may leave your supplies up all weekend. Leaving your belongings out will be at your discretion. I have never had a problem in the past but, Desert Scrappers is not responsible for lost or stolen items. I do shut the doors each evening so no one may look into the area. The hotel has offer to allow the last person each night to lock up and the first person each morning to open the room since there will be no additional security. This is still on the honor system and no ID's will be checked

Swap Box:
We will have a box available to you to drop off things you no longer want and take items that someone else no longer wants that looks like treasure to you! This program works on the honor system. All items left at the end of the weekend will be donated to The Miriam House a local center for underprivileged pregnant women. They will use the items to make albums for their new arrivals. Any items that the Miriam House may not be able to use will be donated to local schools. As always we love additional donations especially for this and other worthy causes. Just please mark your item so they go to the correct charity group. Thank you!

We will have an opportunity to see all the latest and greatest products and shop all weekend long!

Clothes:
Pack comfy clothes and layers to wear due to the banquet room temperature variations. Evenings seem to be cool in the scrapbook room so you might want to bring a sweater or jacket.

FYI-
September's Retreat is only a few days away but for those of you who did the add-on Thursday package I am proud to announce you may set-up even earlier than first expected. YEAH!!! Add-on packages still available.
That is right your add-on package allows your Retreat to start in less than 72 hours. I do not have an exact time as of now but I am going to say you can set-up right after the Manager's Reception that ends at 7:30pm. I will know a more exact time on Thursday after 5pm so please feel free to call my cell, 760-791-6304 for all the final details. Please do remember that this is a special treat and vendors will be working hard to set-up until noon on Friday.

Hello All~
I am still alive, kind of... being a mommy of 2 is keeping me busy. Leia just celebrated her 5th birthday & we went all out including Disneyland for 3 days, Ariel's Grotto for the princesses dinner plus we swung by Long Beach so I could attend the CTMH leadership event. As usual the event was great. And now all my new products have arrived including the new Idea Book that goes live Sept. 1. Some new changes are in store too for early next year so stay tuned.. I will be have lots of updates for you. But until then; it's time for me to start sending out New Idea Books. I am doing it a little different this time so please help me out. If you would like a book sent to you for FREE just comment with your mailing address and I will send it out asap. I know I have been a bad blogger. I blame my broken computer, lol. Good thing hubby is an IT man cause it needed and still needs lots of love with repairs. We are just so busy around here. We have been celebrating Leia's 5th birthday for almost 3 weeks now. First we did Disneyland and dinner with the Princesses, then we dyed her hair with pink of course. Plus we had a small family day to celebrate. It is finally coming to a close just in time to get ready for Kindergarten. I can not believe it! Lots going on on the Levi front too: Doctor said his Congenital Muscular Torticollis is now healed. YEAH! I can tell how much rounder his head is compared to birth. Plus an official Levi weigh-in on August 13th: 16 lbs, 25.5 inches and 3.5 months old. He takes after Daddy that's for sure, where does the time go? More pictures to come soon.
Now it's time to buckle down and work on September's Retreat

I know this is a very busy time of the year but I have had several cancellations and roommate changes so please send me an email confirmation of your attendance and who will be your room. I would hate for there to be any incorrect room assignments. Also I have a few people looking for roommates so please let me know if you are willing to open your room up to an extra person or two. From my facebook update since I don't have internet access on this trip

Laura R Miller recovered from the flu only to run out of town for Leia's b-day celebration in Disneyland. Final on the internet again but only for a moment since I am at CTMH Leadership in Long Beach. I will have lots to share when I return

Recovering

Thanks to Nancy K, one of my CTMH sister I know Nana is well and starting to recover. I can not say as much for myself though. Retreats always wipe me out but everything with Nana has been especially hard. Then of course I was going to play catch-up and Leia came home yesterday sick. Starting around 6pm she threw-up regularly until the wee hours of the morning. Now almost 24 hours later she is finally not throwing up and I got some Tylenol in her so her fever broke, YEAH!! Sadly, she still hasn't wanted to eat but luckily the leftover Ginger Ale from my pregnancy has helped her keep hydrated.
I little update on what has/hasn't been done:
- all CTMH orders have been placed
- no checks or payments have been processed/ deposits
- September's Retreat will be addresses 30 days out
